Today's Readings - Voices of Recovery
"Intuition is supposed to be God's direct line into our minds and hearts, but our problems and our self-will have interfered with this connection." OA 12 & 12 p. 22
Food and fer blocked my connection with people and my hope for a spiritual relationship with a Higher Power. I worked hard, exercised, drank eight glasses of water, prayed, read current events, and groomed daily because I had learned that formula for living a well-rounded, fulfilling life. Every evening I could not wait to disconnect from the world and binge. When the binge began to intrude into the early afternoon, I got scared and found OA.
Following my formula for dealing with life's daily routines and challenges did not provide fulfillment. I wasted tremendous energy and thought in trying to overcome my forty-year weight problem. Seven months after I surrendered, first to a sponsor and then to a Higher Power, I lost most of my weight. "My intuition began to function properly, helping me focus on God's will, both for my eating and for the living of my life" (OA 12 & 12 p. 22.
