Today's Reading - Voices of Recovery

" . . . we could 'act as if.' This didn't mean we were to be dishonestly pious or pretend we believed in God when we didn't. It meant we were free to set aside theological arguments and examine the idea of spiritual power . . ." OA 12 & 12 p. 14 This program allows me to experiment. i can test the spiritual life for myself. i do not have to accept something as true because others believe it to be true. i do not have to accept any particular description of a Higher Power before I can practice prayer and reliance on God. god as I understand Him includes a God I do not understand. I am agnostic about what God is, but I am not agnostic about the effectiveness of prayer and reliance on God. My recovery shouts beyond any doubt that prayer works, and reliance on God works.
