OA second edition, p. 230 When I first came into OA and was failing to achieve any consistent abstinence. I kept reading this sentence. I wanted to believe it. now I read it often to suffering newcomers. Now I can tell them from y experience that it is true. Before OA and before abstinence. I could not even imagine the potential for compassion, the potential for intelligence, the potential for spiritual life that was locked inside me by my eating. Now I know that sentence is true - I stand witness to its truth.
